Our History

Located on the Sivakasi, Reserveline Srivilliputhur - Virudhunagar bypass road, on the way to S.N. Puram, Our Lady of Good Health Church is an abode of peace that provides good health and fulfills the prayers of the people who seek her intercession.

This area was formerly a part of the Sivakasi Parish.

The land where this church is located was purchased in 1988 when Rev. Fr. S. Peter Kulandai was the Parish Priest.

In 1998, through the efforts of the then Parish Priest Rev. Fr. A. Anthony Packiam, the cooperation of the local people, and the financial assistance of the Most Rev. Marianus Arokiasamy, Archbishop of Madurai, a small chapel with a thatched roof was built and consecrated on September 8th, 1999, coinciding with the Feast of the Nativity of Our Lady.

Since the church was established with the financial aid provided by Most Rev. Archbishop Marianus Arokiasamy, the area was named 'Mariyanus Nagar' in his honor.

Furthermore, the foundation stone for the current church building was laid in 2002 by Most Rev. Antonysamy Papusamy, Auxiliary Bishop of Madurai, with the assistance of the then Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Anthony Packiam.

The construction of the church was completed during the tenure of Rev. Fr. Benedict Ambrose as Parish Priest and was consecrated in 2005 by Most Rev. Archbishop Peter Fernando.

Later, during the tenure of Rev. Fr. David Dharmaraj in 2015, the Grotto of Mary and the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Health were built within the church premises.

The church is distinguished by its location in a calm, natural environment surrounded by lush green trees. As Our Lady of Good Health bestows blessings and protects all people regardless of caste or religion, many people from various regions visit to place their requests before the Mother and receive God's blessings through her.

Due to the numerous miracles occurring daily and the increasing number of pilgrims, the local community nurtured a long-held dream of establishing this shrine as an independent parish.

To fulfill this dream, on July 13th, 2018, it was separated from the Sivakasi Parish and elevated to an independent parish with a solemn concelebrated Mass presided over by Most Rev. Antonysamy Papusamy, Archbishop of Madurai.

Rev. Fr. Sebastian Jerome was appointed as the first Parish Priest. Through his dedicated efforts, various development works have been undertaken, and the Mariyanus Nagar Parish continues to grow and flourish.

Our Mission

We are committed to spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ, nurturing the faith of our community, and serving those in need. Through worship, education, and outreach, we strive to build a welcoming community where all can encounter God's love.

Our Patron Saint

Our church is dedicated to Our Lady of Good Health (தூய ஆரோக்கிய அன்னை), also known as Our Lady of Vailankanni. She is venerated as a miraculous healer and protector, and her intercession has blessed countless devotees throughout the centuries.

The devotion to Our Lady of Good Health began in the 16th century in Vailankanni, Tamil Nadu, where the Blessed Virgin Mary is said to have appeared to a shepherd boy and later to a crippled boy, performing miraculous healings.
